mapping_01

The city can be described as solid and void, space and matter. These elements amount to a stage for experience a public space of interaction and exchange. Debord mapped Paris as a series of experiences, a movement in and through the architectural elements heightened through interactions during the derive. Place is created.
Site selection based on the number of pedestrians, predicted variation of pedestrian movement and interaction of pathways between two bridge entries.

Mapping the movement at the entry to Sandridge Bridge. Cameras with precise G.P.S measurements.

Video Ghosting. Images selected at 2 second intervals at 4 different times.

Using the GPS positions thanks to the ultra handy iphone (disclosure warning - unpaid plug) the camera positions and these images are transposed into a Rhino model resulting in plan.
